Plasma processing of sheet metal rolls

Plasma cutting is performed using Voortman V320C, modern automated plate processing machine for cutting and drilling plates.

The plasma cutting system provides clean cut and a minimum of dross. It is used for cutting of plates up to 64 mm thick (on 32 mm plates there is no dross at all).

The plasmatron of Hypertherm HPR260XD HyPerformance plasma cutting system is located on the positioning device. The device operates according to the patent-protected HyDefinition technology which supports, directs and focuses the plasma arch which enables high cutting quality results.

IHT M4000PCS system is used for automatic height control of the plasmatron. The device maintains fixed distance between the torch and the cutting plate providing high quality of cutting. Permanent distance is provided by arc adjustment.

Drilling of sheet and profile metal rolls

Drilling of sheet and profile metal rolls is performed by automatic system V630/1000M. This system drills various profiles in horizontal and vertical planes, has 3 drilling units and 3 automatic tool changers (5 tools per changer).

Drills with internal lubricating channels provide optimized subproduct processing. The drills are cooled internally by a mixture of oil and air.

Drilling units are «smart units». After each change of the drill the drill length is optically measured. At the same time the control system measures profile thickness. So the drill can move to the processed surface at the high rate. Before contact of the drill and the profile the cutting feed rate is engaged. After drilling the drill is taken out from the material at the high rate to the height sufficient for free movement of the drill to a new opening.

System benefit: very fast drilling process and a short programming period. Programming of drill length and profile size isn’t required. It is required to specify only profile type.

The width of the profile is measured automatically. The software checks whether the correct profile size is inside the machine. In case of deviations over the limit or in case of use of other profile, the program displays the on-screen warning.

The V630/1000M system includes the device for measurement of web and flange height and length of work pieces.

Heat cutting of metal rolls using gas-oxygen unit

Heat cutting of metal rolls is performed by up-to-date unit Kometa M. Heat cutting unit of Kometa M series is a bridge-type machine for oxy-fuel cutting of low-carbon steel. This machine has a 3-D operating system CNC-4000, is equipped with two gas-oxygen cutting torches which can simultaneously process different detail profiles.

The high-performance stationary equipment provides:

attachment rigidity of heavy work pieces of 2,5×8 m;
processing of sheet metal rolls with thickness 5-200 mm;
processing accuracy — 1 class in accordance with GOST 5614;
high cutting rate — 50-8000 mm per minute (for rolls 20 mm thick the cutting rate makes 3000 mm);
high quality of roll processing due to use of automatic piercing system providing gentle start and also automatic distance equalizing between the cutting torch and the processed material.
